The workshop floor
Yarn, frames and finished rugs share one floor, so every stage is within sight of the person responsible for your order.
Our Process
Real footage from our workshop, with no staging. Eight stages, each done by hand.
01
Yarn, frames and finished rugs share one floor, so every stage is within sight of the person responsible for your order.
02
Wool yarn is dyed in steaming vats, then lifted onto wheels to drain before it is dried and used.
03
Colours are mixed and checked against your reference, so the shade you approve is the shade we weave.
04
A tufting gun punches yarn through a stretched cloth following the pattern drawn on it, one colour area at a time.
05
The pile is carved by hand to bring the pattern into relief, which is where a flat design becomes a sculpted surface.
06
Excess backing is cut away with shears, leaving a clean edge ready for finishing.
07
Edges are stitched and bound by hand, which is why shaped and scalloped rugs stay crisp.
08
A finished rug is rolled carefully by hand, never folded, ready for inspection and packing.
We can share photos or video of your order before it ships.
